Terms

Before anything starts you get a written quote naming a fixed price and a delivery date. Accepting it in writing — a message will do — is what forms the agreement between us.

The price does not move because something took longer than we expected. It moves only if you ask for work outside what the quote describes, and then only after we have told you the new number and you have agreed to it.

The pages, features and revision rounds named in your quote, built by hand, tested on real devices, and delivered on your own domain.

A free homepage design before you commit to anything. If you do not like it, you owe us nothing and we part on good terms.

Honest advice, including when the honest advice is that you should not spend money with us.

Content, in reasonable time. Text, photographs, menus, prices, logos and any access we need. Almost every project that runs late runs late here, and a delivery date assumes material arrives when agreed.

One person who can make decisions and sign things off.

A warranty that the material you send us is yours to use — that you own it or are licensed to use it, and that publishing it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

Payment as set out in the quote.

Your tier includes a set number of revision rounds. A round is one consolidated set of changes, not an open-ended stream of individual requests.

Further rounds, extra pages, or new features are quoted separately before any of them are started. Nothing gets added to your invoice that you have not agreed to first.

The dates we quote are honest estimates based on content arriving on time. Delays in material, feedback or approvals move the delivery date by at least the length of the delay.

If we are the cause of a delay we will tell you as soon as we know, and we will not charge you for our own overrun.

Your domain and hosting are registered in your name from the first day. On final payment the site's files and the content within it are yours.

You can take the site to another developer whenever you like, and we will hand over what is needed without argument or an exit fee. See Licensing for what that ownership covers and what it does not.

Terms are as stated in your quote. Domain and hosting are billed to you directly by those providers, at their cost — we do not mark them up or take a cut.

Care is a monthly arrangement with no minimum term. Stop it whenever you like; we will not make you write a letter.

Either of us can end a project in writing. You pay for work completed to that point; anything paid in advance for work not yet done is returned.

We may decline or end work that is unlawful, that we consider misleading to the people it is aimed at, or where the working relationship has broken down.

We build carefully and test what we ship, but no website is guaranteed to be free of faults or to be available without interruption. We are not responsible for outages at your hosting provider, registrar, or any third-party service your site connects to.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Otherwise our total liability for a project is limited to the amount you paid us for it.

We do not guarantee search rankings. Nobody honestly can. What we guarantee is the technical groundwork described in your quote.

These terms are governed by the law of the place the studio is registered, and its courts have jurisdiction.
