Ownership is the whole premise here, so it is worth being exact about what transfers to you and what arrives under someone else's terms.

On final payment you own the finished site: the pages we wrote for you, the layout and design produced for your business, and the content within it. It is yours outright, with no ongoing licence fee to us and no permission needed to change it.
Your domain name and hosting account are registered in your name from day one, so they were never ours to transfer.
You may modify the site, extend it, or hand it to another developer at any time.
Every site is built on open-source software — the framework, the libraries and the tooling — each under its own licence. Those licences travel with the site and continue to apply. None of them cost you anything or restrict ordinary commercial use.
Typefaces are licensed, not owned. Where a site uses a commercial font, the licence is bought in your name and its terms govern what you may do with it. Where it uses an open-licensed font, that licence applies.
Photography we source on your behalf comes under the licence it was obtained with. We will tell you which images those are and what the licence permits.
[[ List the specific fonts and stock-photo licences per project in the handover document. ]]
The general tools, techniques and reusable components we have developed across projects remain ours, and we go on using them for other clients. Buying a website does not buy exclusivity over how websites are built.
Your site is not resold as a template. The design produced for your business is produced for your business.
Unless you ask us not to, we keep the right to show your site in our portfolio and in the work section of this site, and to describe what we built and why.
Ask us to take it down and we will, without needing a reason.
Your logo, photographs, menus, prices and copy stay yours throughout. We use them only to build and support your site.
Where we write copy or produce photography for you as part of the project, that work becomes yours on final payment on the same terms as the rest of the site.
